WHO WE ARE We are part of the Northwest District of the Southeastern New England Narragansett Council of the Boy Scouts of America. Our pack is currently primarily represented by boys living in Lincoln, however we welcome both boys and girls from other towns as well. Our Pack is sponsored by St. James Church, located on Division Street in Manville, Rhode Island.
The Boy Scouting adventure starts with Cub Scouting, a family program designed for boys and girls in Kindergarten through 5th grade (or ages 5-11). The program emphasizes shared leadership, learning about the community, family understanding, character development, citizen training, and personal fitness. After achieving their Arrow of Light award, 5th grade rank, Our Cub Scouts can move up to our very active Boy Scout Troop 1 Manville if they are boys and Troop 1 Lincoln if they are girls.
WHEN WE MEET Our Cub Scout Pack is made up of Lion, Tiger, Bear, Wolf, Webelo and Arrow of Light dens. Monthly Pack Nights are typically held on the third Friday of the month at 7pm in St. James Church Gym. Check out our Event Calendar for exact dates. Typically there ends up being 5 pack meetings in the Cub Scout year.
Den meetings are held several times each month depending on what grade/den your scout is in. Lions meet with their den once a month. Tiger dens meet every other week. Starting in their Wolf year, Scouts meet weekly for the remainder of their Cub Scout career
There are usually several other pack activities scheduled throughout the month in addition to the pack and den meetings. These additional activities are optional for the scout to attend though they usually do check off something that is rank related. The purpose for these activities is to provide an opportunity to continue your child’s growth in their rank and to have fun with scouts from other dens. Some new families find this part of the program a little overwhelming sometimes at first and think they are required to do everything. Please understand that Pack 1 Manville is just trying to provide the best, most comprehensive program possible so that there is something for everyone to enjoy and we cannot stress enough to you to take from the program what will enrich your families lives and do not worry about the rest!
WHO CAN JOIN We are excited to announce that our Cub Scouting program is now open to boys and girls. By welcoming both girls and boys into the program, even more youth will have access to the character development and values-based leadership that Scouting promises. This webpage is designed to serve as the single point of information on Scouting for the whole family.
OUR LEADERS Our Cub Scout Pack would not be what it is today without the help of our dedicated volunteers. Our committee has several members; Ariane Lepore (Cubmaster), Dennis Keaten (Assistant Cub Master), Ann Rageotte (Committee Chair), Christine Stimson (Advancement Chair & Secretary), and Alana Parker (Treasurer). Den leaders are listed with their corresponding dens.
OUR AWARDS Our Cub Scout Pack has been recognized by the Boy Scouts of America numerous times. Most recently, the Pack was awarded the Journey to Excellence Gold Award in both 2017 and 2018, the National Summertime Pack Award in 2017 and we are on track to be awarded again for 2018. On the fun side, our Pack was awarded "Best Dressed Medics in the Field" at the 2018 Chuckwagon Derby in Rhode Island.
